Ukraine has introduced a new ground robotic system designed for fire support on the battlefield.
Named Spider, the unmanned vehicle uses a tracked chassis and was developed to operate against a wide range of targets, including armored vehicles, fortified positions, enemy troops, and even low-speed aerial threats.
The equipment was unveiled during a demonstration organized by the National Association of Defense Industries of Ukraine, while it is still undergoing certification for operational deployment.
Remote control of the system can be carried out through different means, such as LTE networks, radio, Starlink satellite connection, or fiber optic cables, ensuring flexibility across various scenarios.
In terms of armament, the Spider can be equipped with heavy and light machine guns, as well as automatic grenade launchers. The system also features advanced fire control capabilities, such as hydraulic stabilization, ballistic calculation, and automatic target tracking, allowing precise engagement even against elevated targets, thanks to an elevation angle of up to 70 degrees.
Although it does not yet have dedicated armor, the current structure has already been designed to accommodate a more protected future version. The vehicle also provides full 360-degree vision and the ability to deploy smoke screens to protect allied troops. Its endurance can reach up to 72 hours, depending on the level of operation, reinforcing its potential for prolonged missions.
